You know spring is finally here when the cherry blossoms start to bloom in Vancouver. They're our first signs that the rain is nearly at an end, and we have sunny days for the next couple of months.
Despite the cold spells (read snow) and rain storms (read wilted and rotting flowers), I've managed to find some of the best spots for all your cherry blossom photo dreams.

1. Marpole
Walk anywhere along 64th or 70th Ave, from Granville to Hudson, and you'll find kanzen trees lining most of the streets. Kanzen are my absolute favorite – they're a deep pink, and blossom in clusters which produces a nice full effect for photos.

2. Steveston Village
Otherwise known as Storybrooke (from Once Upon a Time). The streets are lined with magnolias, and a few cherry blossom trees, but head to Garry Point Park for views of the ocean and a canopy of blossoms.

3. Akali Singh Sikh Society
I spent a good month stalking 3rd Avenue and waiting for the rain to stop to get the perfect cherry blossom shot (I didn't get it, but I got close). Outside the temple is lined with cherry blossoms, and with the right angle, you can get the iconic golden dome in the background.

4. Kerrisdale
Shoot under an small archway of kanzen cherry blossoms outside the Starbucks!
If you wander down to Margeurite, you'll find a few streets with more mature kanzen.

5. Burrard Station
One of the most well-known locations for cherry blossom lovers, Burrard station is under a canopy of Akebono trees. If you want to shoot with limited people, go early on a weekend!

6. Queen Elizabeth Park
Everyone's favorite, but last on my list since it's so busy... and grassy. There's a lovely canopy of Akebono cherry blossoms near the main street. Even though I had gone when it was pouring rain (I swear I left and it was only cloudy, I don't know what happened in the 10 minutes it took to get from the house to the park), no one seemed to care, and I could barely get a shot without anyone in it! It's still super pretty though.

Honourable Mention: UBC Robson Square
While I didn't go for cherry blossoms, there is a beatiful magnolia tree located outside the Vancouver Art Gallery. While cherry blossoms are iconic, Vancouver has given me a new appreciation for the large magnolias that are so common in everyone's backyards here.
